the fibreshed movement is like the local food movement, but for your textiles. i live within the pembina fibreshed, which lies within the same approximate area as the pembina watershed. these areas cross borders and other imaginary boundaries, ignoring limits imposed by humans in exchange for natural geographical regions. our fibreshed is small but mighty at this point, and growing every day. this shawl is an homage to my fibreshed and the plucky players within it, including my dear friend anna and her family, who run long way homestead about 45 minutes away from my home. thanks to her and my wonderful sponsorsheep, a geriatric merino/cotswold ewe named tansy, for the fleece that made the roving that i spun into yarn and knit for this shawl. a truly field to skin project if ever there was one.
