piercing winter winds can penetrate even the densest of knits in the canadian north. luckily for cold hands, the thrummed mittens of newfoundland use a thick layer of fluffy roving to line oversized mittens. and the best part is that the longer you wear them, the more felted their interior becomes, making them warmer every time they’re used. while traditional thrummed mitts use only a single colour of yarn, these mitts, sized for your little one as well as yourself, have a leafy colourwork motif hidden between the thrums. choose high-contrasting or subtle colour differences with a naturally dyed palette and some roving from your local sheep farmer to make the ultimate pair of winter mitts for everyone in the family!
